BK Team

Brenda worked relentlessly in establishing and gaining LGU recognition of the English Senior Ladies. Together with Prue Riddiford, against much opposition from the LGU, set up the English Senior Ladies’ Association, gaining sponsors including M&S who provided uniforms for the above team event.

Golf was a huge part of Brenda’s life. She enjoyed considerable success since she took up the sport in 1943. She was the Northern Counties Champion, Lancashire Veteran Ladies Champion and also the East Lancashire Ladies Champion on two occasions. She represented the Northern Counties in senior golf and played for the Lancashire veteran ladies team on numerous occasions. She was a course assessor and would have been a huge asset today …WHS and slope index!!

She had been a scratch player and had held Pleasington Golf Club course record on two occasions and successfully holed in 1 five times in her golf career.

Brenda sadly died in 1994 still playing off 9 handicap.

The Brenda King Foursomes was founded in honour of all that Brenda had done in establishing the English Senior Ladies’ Association despite the initial opposition from the LGU.
